Nita Lake Lodge Whistler Wedding: Kelsey + Tristan Elope!

It was hard to restrain myself from posting the excitement I was feeling the week of Kelsey & Tristan's Elopement at Nita Lake Lodge in Whistler. We were so excited to go back to Nita Lake Lodge this winter and for an intimate wedding. There is something so special to be said for elopements for the right fit of couple. It was an enchanting chilly, snowy, rainy whistler day. We had just been hit with the 'Pineapple Express' weather system but that wouldn't prevent a beautiful wedding from happening.

A chill of rain made the lodge feel warm and cozy for the wedding. With the view to the right through the tall windows a foggy hillside footed by a frozen lake would set the perfect scene for a romantic exchange of vows. Raising a finger to wipe away her tear stained face, Kelsey said I do in return to Tristan's vows. Even behind the camera it was getting misty and my mascara was giving a fair fight not to run.

See, Kelsey and I had been school mates and she wasn't the first of the girls in my year I've watched wedd. Each wedding reminds me that true love exists and always hits closer to home when they are a friend.

Love and the perfect marriage isn't necessarily this perfect magical ideal of a knight on a trusty stead - it might just be an economic car that you plan your road trips and adventures. It might not be traveling on a yatch but a ferry instead. It may not be extravagance all the time but the passion to desire forever with each other - with nothing more. Finding beauty in each others vulnerabilities, conquering fears, and challenging each other creating strong ties. Building dreams together, and watching goals be accomplished from finishing school, buying 'our first sofa', 'our first wok' to maybe even one day watching little ones play in 'our back yard'.

Kelsey and Tristan's wedding was beautiful and perfect. Congratulations to Mr & Mrs Williams. It was an absolute honour to be there to photograph your wedding. Being chosen to be added to such an intimate event - there aren't enough words to express our gratitude to you both. Not only that but letting us be apart of your announcement to the world (ok, internet/social media....facebook). We felt privilege to get to know you both better throughout this journey and watch as you made the greatest vow there is. Here is to you both, may you always dream, smile and cook together :-)

I feel like while I wrote this post, Ed Sheeran made me write like a total sap. If you have itunes, or feel like heading over to youtube - Search "Ed Sheeran - Kiss Me".  I was listening to it while I wrote.
