Dragonflight Photography Vancouver, Langley, Victoria and Destination Wedding Photography : 03/07/13

Victoria is such a beautiful city and I always feel excited to photograph in my hometown where I grew up. It was a chilly but beautifully sunny February day for Jimmy & Erin's Wedding. With friends and family filling the pews at the Victoria Conservatory of Music they said their vows and poured salt to symbolize their commitment to one another.

I started the morning with the ladies at Laurel Point Inn, documenting hair and make up moments. That moment when Erin's mother started tearing up as they looked at her 'not so little girl' as a bride. We did their fomal photographs at Laurel Point on the back patio and the sunlight was incredible. I couldn't believe this was a 'winter' wedding. One of requests Erin and Jimmy made was stopping at Bard & Banker, a very charming pub in downtown Victoria for a couple photos and drinks with their bridal party. I loved the idea immediately. It brings something special for the day of to have a special moment with those chosen to be in your bridal party, these are little moments you truly remember and are a little more intimate than the large reception settings.

With day turning into night, and by night I mean 5:30pm (yay winter). They made their grand entrance at Our Lady Fatima Hall and onward with the laughter, toasts, jokes and dinner. John's Casa Nova did a fantastic job of food service for the wedding. And Jimmy and Erin even prepared their own wine for the night. Every part of their wedding was uniquely personalized. A first dance, and solo dances with their parents, a bouquet to toss and a garter to launch....?

Jimmy has an incredible sense of humour and as an ability to always make those around him laugh. His wedding day was no exception. He created a "garter launcher" to shoot the garter towards all the single men! It was such a riot and so creative!
