Batman, Robin & Cupcakes - Langley, BC

When I was a kid I never understood why my parents didn't think Halloween was a big deal. There is all this free candy when I just ask for it, oh and the fact I can dress up and be anyone. It was the ultimate in creativity for a kid. But my parent's never really thought it was anything special. My parent's came here from Portugal in the 70's (whilst wearing platforms) and Halloween wasn't a thing. Instead of Halloween there's 'Carnival' in February before lent. Everyone dresses up in bright costumes, colours, everyone drinks and eats very similar to 'Mardi Gras'. One of my favourite things about Carnival is my mother making 'Milasadas' in the kitchen when I would get home from school. Milasadas are a Portuguese donut covered in sugar and so yum. Unfortunately I will have to wait for Milasadas so instead I picked up cupcakes (heck yes, chocolate). So whether your enjoying the 'treats' or going to celebrating in costume for 'Carnival' have a safe night tonight.

Here are some photos of Lisa & Quentin's boys Chase and Jude dressed up in costume - Batman & Robin ready to go out tonight for treats. I photographed their family this past summer. You can view their session here.

Burnaby 'NERD' Wedding - Hennie & Lance

It was a chilly day this past weekend but the sun came out on this beautiful October day. Hennie & Lance planned a beautiful and in their own words 'NERD' wedding. That's right full of their personalities and loves for all things nerdy. One of my personal favourite parts of the day was the marriage officient starting their ceremony with the marriage bit from 'The Princess Bride' - I was recently quoted this movie on the blog and they incorporated it into their ceremony. "Maaaayrrriage.

When I asked Hennie what she was most excited about she said to have Lance's last name. She was excited the whole morning waiting to see Lance at their first look at Marine Park. Lance being a true gentleman brought with him a single red rose to give to his soon to be wifey as a wedding day gift. Her official wedding gift was a titanium watch since Hennie had sensitive skin to metals. What a thoughtful guy!!!!

I love when couples bring their personality into their big day - it makes it truly one of a kind and very memorable. Hennie and Lance were one of the sweetest couples I have photographed this year and we felt incredibly blessed to meet such an awesome duo. Thanks again for having us there!

This week Hennie posted the sweetest message on the facebook page and I can't resist posting it - notes like this give me the warm fuzzies!
